Penn•manship’s story

In 2017 while teaching I could not longer afford my yoga studio membership. Where is this going? I know right, just follow me. So obviously I had to cancel my $$$/month membership. After cancelling and still teaching full time, I was slipping fast into a depression. One day my mother in law told me I needed to find something therapeutic to replace my yoga sessions. So three times a week during the time I would be in a downward facing dog, I practiced brush lettering. And as most millennials, I posted my hand lettering on Instagram and instantly people began to ask if I would do things for their wedding.

In 2018, I officially birthed penn•manship calligraphy, a pun off of my maiden name Pennington and the combination of my beautiful handwriting. Ultimately, penn•manship has allowed me to enhance events, put money back into science classrooms aaaaaaand fund my yoga membership again.

I am a black woman that’s a wife, mom, teacher and calligrapher. I am a human that gives out of this world experiences.
